Directors serving on either of these Boards share their knowledge and expertise in the real estate industry and serve as a decision-making body, shaping the future direction of the Association and MLS.

    Betty,

I will answer on the HMLS Board commitment if that is the one you were asking about. Seats will be for 3 year terms and the Board is scheduled for 6-8 meetings per calendar year with the ability to meet more often and for special meetings if and when needed. We always request our Board members to attend industry events, however, those are not mandatory but gives a great opportunity to meet and talk to other agents and brokers about industry happenings. If you have any further questions please let me know. Contact me here: https://kcrar.com/contact-staff/?staff_email=RobW@heartlandmls.com

Roles & Responsibilities for KCRAR Directors
The Board of Directors is comprised of active KCRAR members and forms one voice, which governs the Associations in accordance with the Bylaws. A Director serves as an essential component of the main decision making body of the Association. The primary duty of a Director is to meet with the Officers and other Directors to approve, establish, prioritize, and evaluate the programs and services of the Association to be sure that they serve the mission of the Association. While a Director will not be involved in the day-to-day administrative details and operations, he/she should be sufficiently informed to represent the members in ensuring the continuity of the Association by planning for the future, establishing and reviewing major policies and programs and making sure the organization is fiscally sound.
    The Board’s Responsibilities:
Ø Determine, monitor, and strengthen programs and services for members-constituents.
    Ø Promote the organization’s image.
Ø Ensure legal and ethical integrity in the organization.
Ø Assess and measure organizational performance.

    Director Responsibilities:
    Ø Attend all board meetings
Ø Arrive on time; stay until the end.
Ø Study and understand the mission statement, bylaws, policies, and goals.
Ø Prepare for meetings by reviewing the agenda and supporting documents.
Ø Treat information and discussions as “confidential”.
Ø Promote the organization to others.
    Ø Attend KCRAR events.
Ø Adhere to the KCRAR Social Media Policy for Leadership. Ø Identify and recruit future leaders to help govern the organization.
Ø Stay current on issues and trends impacting the organization and the membership. Ø Get involved in committee work.
Ø Carefully review all financial reports. Ø Approve an annual budget.
Ø The treasurer, with staff assistance, will present a financial report for the previous period, at each meeting. Ø Directors should ask questions.
Ø Review the annual audit which is performed by an independent accountant.

Board of Directors Meetings: The KCRAR Board of Directors typically meets six to nine times each year and the meetings typically take place the third Thursday of the month from 10:00 am to noon

HMLS meets six to eight times on the second Friday every other month.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.
