The Kansas City Regional Association of REALTORS® (KCRAR) has achieved a major milestone with the adoption of its inaugural Local Policy Agenda for 2026—marking a decisive step toward shaping a stronger, more resilient housing future across the Kansas City region. Crafted by the Public Policy Committee and formally approved by the Board of Directors in January, this landmark agenda elevates KCRAR’s role as a trusted partner to local governments, community leaders and residents, putting clear priorities and solutions at the forefront of regional conversations in 2026.
At its core, the agenda champions policies that strengthen neighborhoods, expand pathways to homeownership and bolster the foundations that make communities thrive. It emphasizes responsible development and investment, resilient infrastructure, safe and vibrant neighborhoods and a renewed focus on housing attainability for families and the local workforce. It also underscores the importance of environmental stewardship, insurance availability, and fair, balanced approaches to rental housing and short‑term rental frameworks—all designed to support a healthy, accessible housing market that serves current and future residents alike.
This is a positive turning point for KCRAR. We’re focusing on proactive strategy—anticipating challenges, aligning around clear priorities and partnering early with local leaders to shape better outcomes. This agenda is our commitment to building resilient neighborhoods, expanding opportunity and ensuring REALTORS® lead with solutions.
Differing from KCRAR’s previous Public Policy Manual, this new Agenda will guide the Association’s advocacy throughout 2026 specifically, driving constructive collaboration on issues that matter most: attainable housing, community investment, public safety, sustainability, and the protection of property rights. It signals to stakeholders across the region that REALTORS® are ready to lead with data, engage with intention and deliver results that strengthen the fabric of every neighborhood.
The 2026 Agenda is more than a document—it’s a forward‑looking blueprint for action. By uniting members around a shared vision and a clear set of priorities, the Association is poised to make 2026 a year of meaningful progress for homeowners, renters and communities across the Kansas City region.
