Jennifer Lanston-Justus has served her community for years as a REALTOR®, volunteer and political advocate. Now, she is running for public office in Clay County’s election for Presiding Commissioner on Aug. 4, 2026.
Throughout her decades-long real estate career, Langston-Justus has worked with the community first-hand, hearing the experiences of families, seniors, veterans and more during the home buying and selling process. That experience has helped shape her campaign platform: “Safer, Stronger, Smarter.”
“My perspective on housing in Clay County comes from years of professional experience, community involvement, and countless conversations with residents across the Kansas City metro area,” Langston-Justus said. “I’ve seen how housing affects everything from workforce growth and public safety to school enrollment and neighborhood pride.”
While Langston-Justus acknowledged that aging infrastructure, traffic and safety concerns, and securing funding can pose challenges to county growth, she said a focus on collaboration with community stakeholders, local organizations and her fellow REALTORS® will help mitigate those challenges and move the county forward.
“I support fair policies that protect property rights, encourage responsible growth, and make it possible for people to live, work, and thrive here in Clay County,” Langston-Justus said. “A home is more than a roof—it’s the foundation of a strong, safe community.”
Langston-Justus carries a background in political advocacy through her involvement with the REALTOR® association, serving as a past Federal Political Coordinator for Congressman Sam Graves and currently serving on the Regulatory Policy Forum and State & Local Policy Issues Committees for the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR). That experience, combined with her close familiarity with Clay County, have led the REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC) to support her run for Presiding Commissioner.
“Clay County is a vibrant place to live, work, and do business,” Langston-Justus said. “By focusing on safety, smart growth, and community collaboration, I believe we can create an environment where families can thrive, businesses can succeed, and neighborhoods can flourish. I am committed to working with REALTORS® and KCRAR members to make sure Clay County remains a strong, desirable place to call home.”
