Jackson County homeowners now have a new resource to estimate property tax credits related to the county’s response to the 2023 and 2024 assessment controversy.
County officials recently launched an online property information portal that allows homeowners to search for their property and view an estimated tax credit amount. The credits are associated with the county’s effort to provide relief to qualifying homeowners whose residential property assessments increased by more than 15% during the disputed assessment cycle. According to county officials, credits will be applied over a three-year period, with final credit amounts appearing on future property tax bills.
Homeowners can access the lookup tool through the Jackson County Property Information Portal.
County leaders have emphasized that the figures shown online are estimates and that final credit amounts will be reflected on official tax statements.
For REALTORS® and property owners alike, the new portal provides greater transparency into a process that has affected thousands of Jackson County residents. Members may wish to share this resource with clients who have questions about the potential impact of the tax credit program on their future property tax obligations.
KCRAR will continue to monitor developments related to Jackson County’s assessment and tax credit implementation and provide updates to members as additional information becomes available.
