REALTOR® Candidate Spotlight: Jackie Dorman

March 26, 2026 in Government Affairs

Jackie Dorman has served the Independence, Missouri community for the last 22 years through her career as a real estate agent. Now, she is running for Independence Council At‑Large in the April 7 municipal election. Her experience helping community members find homes has influenced her perspective on local government.

“My passion is—if we can get that first-time homebuyer into a home, that’s how they begin to build their wealth, that’s how we get pride into our community,” Dorman said in an interview with the KCRAR RPAC Trustees.

Dorman is a REALTOR®, KCRAR member and graduate of the UMKC REALTOR® Leadership Academy. In addition to her career as an agent, she also co‑owned and operated a construction business, providing her with firsthand insight into the challenges and opportunities facing developers and business owners.

“Independence is not seen as a city that’s easy to do business with for developers,” Dorman said. “So I think that we need to automate some of those systems and make it easier, while still working with our community and ensuring that we don’t tear down our old historical buildings and we don’t destroy what our history is.”

As a lifelong resident of Independence, she said she is well-rooted in her community. Her priorities include restoring trust in city government, improving communication and citizen engagement, strengthening the role of voters in major decisions and fostering a welcoming environment for small businesses.

“If you let people establish their businesses here, that’s how you build a community,” she said.

Jackie Dorman is an RPAC‑supported candidate. RPAC is a nonpartisan, voluntary fund that supports candidates who demonstrate a strong commitment to property rights, homeownership and policies that foster thriving communities. The KCRAR RPAC Trustees evaluate candidates based on their record, engagement and alignment with issues that impact homeowners, businesses and neighborhoods.
