By David Nichols, 2026 KCRAR President
I’m genuinely excited about the future of real estate in the Kansas City region.
That might sound like a bold statement in a world that loves to focus on headlines, interest rates and uncertainty—but I believe it deeply. In fact, at our annual holiday party, T. David Rogers summed it up perfectly when he said:
“There has never been a better time to be a REALTOR® in the Kansas City region.”
He’s right.
And it is truly an honor to represent you, the more than 13,000 members of KCRAR. This is your association. I don’t take that responsibility lightly, and I’m incredibly proud to serve on your behalf.
One of the things I don’t think we talk about enough is just how much your Association does for you, often quietly, behind the scenes, day in and day out.
Your Association is your advocate.
At the local, state and national levels, we are actively engaged in policy and legislative issues that protect your ability to do business, defend private property rights and preserve the American dream of homeownership. These fights don’t always make headlines, but they matter… because when REALTORS® aren’t at the table, decisions still get made… just not in our favor.
Your Association is your educator.
We provide hundreds of hours of education every year… much of it at little or no cost to our members. That education doesn’t just help you grow your business; it saves you real money by helping you meet Missouri and Kansas continuing education requirements without paying hundreds (or thousands) of dollars elsewhere. More importantly, it helps you stay sharp, relevant and prepared in an ever-changing industry.
Your Association is your protector.
From standardized lockbox systems to best practices around safety and security, we work constantly to provide the safest and most reliable tools available to help protect homeowners, agents and our industry as a whole. These systems don’t just happen. They require oversight, investment and constant improvement.
And honestly? This list could go on for pages.
The truth is, there is far more value in your membership than most members ever fully tap into. My encouragement to you is simple: lean into your Association. Explore the benefits. Ask questions. Show up. Get involved. Make sure you’re getting the full value of the dues you invest each year.
As we move forward, I want you to know this: I am here to listen.
I want to hear your concerns. I want to understand the challenges you’re facing in your business. I want to make sure your voice is heard… not just loudly, but effectively. Because when REALTORS® speak with one voice, through our local, state and national Associations, we carry tremendous power.
I am proud to be a member of KCRAR. I am proud to be part of the Missouri and Kansas REALTOR® associations. And I am proud to stand alongside you as we shape the future of real estate in Kansas City… together.
The best days are ahead. Let’s get to work.
