April 8, 2026 in Government Affairs

The April 7 Missouri General Municipal Election brought several victories for candidates supported by the KCRAR REALTOR® Party. With official results now posted by local election authorities, the following KCRAR backed candidates earned seats across the region:

  • Cameron Nave – City Council, Gladstone
  • Tina Spallo – City Council, Gladstone
  • Irene Kendrick – Council Ward 2, Grandview
  • Jackie Dorman, REALTOR® – Council At-Large, Independence
  • Beto Lopez – Mayor, Lee’s Summit
  • Mia Prier – Council District 1, Lee’s Summit
  • Melanie Adkins – Council District 3, Lee’s Summit
  • Donnie Funk – Council District 4, Lee’s Summit
  • Gary Wilkinson – Council At-Large, St. Joseph

“These wins reflect the strong engagement of KCRAR members and the organization’s commitment to supporting candidates who prioritize housing, economic development and community vitality,” said James Toy, Senior Vice President of Government Affairs for KCRAR.

This year’s municipal elections also took place against a backdrop of active community conversations about growth and development. Across several local jurisdictions, residents expressed increasing concern about the pace of growth, particularly regarding multifamily development and the rapid expansion of data centers.

In addition to candidate victories, Kansas City, Missouri voters overwhelmingly approved the renewal of the Earnings Tax, with more than 75% voting in favor. KCRAR supported the renewal, recognizing the role the Earnings Tax plays in funding public safety, infrastructure maintenance, and other city services that contribute to a stable region.
