Home for the Brave: KCRAR to Host Benefit Concert for Veterans Community Project

October 9, 2025 in Community

32,882 veterans experience homelessness on any given night across the country, as estimated by the VA and HUD. This is an issue Veterans Community Project (VCP) is working to solve, and Kansas City REALTORS® want to help along the way.

KCRAR will be hosting a “Home for the Brave” benefit concert on Nov. 5 at Callsign Brewing in North Kansas City to raise funds for VCP and its goal to house and support veterans in need. The Suburbans, a local band featuring KCRAR Industry Partner Keith Sauro, will be headlining the concert.

Funds for VCP will be raised via event admission, an on-site “temporary tattoo parlor,” and a veterans honor wall. For a donation, events guest may add the honor wall to their event registration to recognize a veteran they know at the event. Photos from the honor wall donors will be displayed at the event.

Veterans Community Project was founded in 2016 by four combat veterans, including KCRAR member Mark Solomon. The 49 tiny houses in the Kansas City VCP Village offer a home to Veterans experiencing homelessness, and the VCP Outreach Center provides a variety of support services to Veterans in the Kansas City metro area. Solomon was recognized by the National Association of REALTORS® for this work in 2019 with a national Good Neighbor Award.

KCRAR has been a continued partner of VCP, hosting donation drives and volunteer days for Kansas City REALTORS® to give back to veterans. Angela Lofton, Chair of the KCRAR Events & Outreach Advisory Group that is helping to coordinate the Home for the Brave event, encouraged her fellow REALTORS® to continue that spirit of community at the Nov. 5 benefit concert.

“Supporting VCP means more than giving back to those who have once stood for us,” Lofton said. “Every donation helps build hope, stability and a true sense of home.”

Doors will open for the Home for the Brave benefit concert at 6 p.m. on Nov. 5 at Callsign Brewing, located at 1340 Burlington St. in North Kansas City, Missouri. KCRAR members and non-members may register to attend. Space is limited, and ticket sales may close upon sellout.
