Can you believe it is already July? We are halfway through another year. How is your year going so far? It’s the perfect time to check in on those goals you set in January. Are you halfway there? Did you know that only 8% of people reach their goals every year? Wow, that is a low number!
At the beginning of the year, we are so excited to set new goals and resolutions, and as the days go on, we get busy with the day-to-day activities of life and business, and we often lose sight of those aspirations. Successful entrepreneurs have systems in place to keep their businesses running smoothly and efficiently. To be successful in meeting goals, there needs to be a goal plan and evaluation system, and July is the perfect time for the personal mid-year review. By doing so, you will be one of the 8% of people who reach their goals!
Here are the steps:
- Schedule a time with yourself to do the review (or multiple times if you need it).
- Review what you have accomplished and what still needs to be completed. Should some goals change or be dropped?
- Reflect on what things you have done well and what things need to improve or change, including good or bad habits.
- Think about what things have brought you joy and what you dislike doing.
- How is your life balance? Think of each category: health, relationships, spiritual, personal, travel, home, career, financial. More than just your business.
- Set a timer for 10 minutes, and write down your thoughts as they come to mind. Go quickly and get it all out on paper. Add more time if you need it.
- Reconnect with your personal “why” and long-term goals.
- Revise and revisit your current goal list, check off what you have accomplished, get rid of irrelevant goals and set new goals if you have them. Narrow down your goals to what you really want to do!
In January, I suggested a goal of being involved at the association. If you’ve been busy with the sales side of our business, now is the perfect time to join in on some the fun opportunities the association offers. Last month we had a great time watching some of our REALTOR® members play softball. And if your answer for step #5 above wasn’t where you’d like it to be, consider attending YPN’s Mental Health Workshop later this month. In August, we have REALTOR® Day at the K, which is a perfect opportunity to get together with our REALTOR® family and enjoy the summer days. Wanting to volunteer? Keep an eye out for the upcoming sign-ups for REALTORS® Rock the Block that will be happening on Sept. 13. Want to know more agents? Attend a state meeting. In Missouri, the Real Estate Summit is in Lake of the Ozarks next week, and in both Kansas and Missouri their Fall Conferences are taking place in September. Make the best of the rest of your year, take time for yourself and enjoy the sunny days of summer. I hope I see you at an upcoming event!
