Around 130 REALTORS® and Industry Partners gathered in the Armourdale neighborhood in Kansas City, Kan. this week for two days of service to their community at KCRAR’s annual REALTORS® Rock the Block event with Habitat for Humanity of Kansas City. Real estate agents from around the region worked on nine homes in the neighborhood, accomplishing home repairs including painting, landscaping and more.
The event kicked off on Tuesday morning with an opening ceremony at which Kansas City, Kan. Mayor Tyrone Garner addressed the crowd of volunteers, along with KCRAR CEO Kipp Cooper and Habitat KC CEO Lindsay Hicks. By the time the event concluded on Wednesday afternoon, nine homes in the neighborhood had a fresh exterior.
“I couldn’t be more proud of our REALTORS®, sponsors and volunteers for giving back in such a meaningful way to homeowners who truly needed a little assistance,” Cooper said. “Our partnership with Habitat for Humanity over these past six years has helped revitalize over 60 homes and really improved the neighborhoods and quality of life for these families.”
By partnering with Habitat for Humanity of Kansas City each year, local REALTORS® with KCRAR hope to create positive long-term change for the areas served by the Rock the Block program, including higher property values and a general feeling of well-being and community pride for current and potential homeowners. Through their partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Kansas City, KCRAR has committed more than $100,000 to affordable housing solutions in the Kansas City area.
