I am proud and thankful for the time I’ve spent on the
Heartland MLS board and now as President. We aren’t just ‘the MLS.’ I believe
we are a dynamic community. From the dedicated staff to your board and the
Executive Committee, we are focused on constant improvement and service to help
your business run smoothly and seamlessly.
A small group of staff and board members recently
returned from an MLS conference. The attendees represented 22 MLS’s from around
the country. Within those organizations/cities are approximately 750,000
agents, which is approximately three-fourths of the agents in the country. On
top of that, another 725 MLS organizations exist in the United States. That’s way
too many MLS’s according to industry experts, including Stefan Swanepoel. A move to
consolidate and merge has been picking up pace the last few years, which we are
actively engaging in now with the St. Joseph MLS merging with Heartland MLS later
in the year. We welcome all our friends from St. Joseph and surrounding areas.
Pre MLS status is going well for our temporarily waived
properties. This gives the REALTOR®
community a heads up look at homes coming on the market in the future. It does
not include properties that are waived for the entire listing period.
We are settling in with the new portal. Matrix had some
new upgrades, including a switch to Google maps from Bing maps. Homesnap Pro
continues to see a growing adoption and usage rate. If you haven’t yet
downloaded the app and taken a look, I encourage you to do so. There are some
wonderful communication tools to help with clients and agents, including the
Property Line Walk, which is very cool.
The theme at the recent conference was ‘What If.’ What if
we could move past what limits us in our daily lives? And, accomplish more than
we ever imagined? What if we can be the absolute best MLS in America for you?
