More than 100 real estate professionals gathered on May 8 to support the American dream of homeownership at the annual KCRAR American Dream Party & Auction, benefitting the REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC). The silent auction, which began on May 5, and the live auction event raised nearly $60,000 for RPAC.
This year’s “Flashback with RPAC” theme brought local REALTORS® and Industry Partners to Children’s Mercy Park in 50’s themed attire, from poodle skirts to leather jackets. The event included activities to contribute to the fundraiser, including a Heads or Tails game sponsored by Truity Credit Union and a daily prize drawing sponsored by Security 1st Title and KC Floorworx.
The auction itself included donated items and experiences from tech gadgets to sports memorabilia to destination trips, all benefitting RPAC. The highest-earning auction item was an 8-day trip to a luxury resort in Mexico bringing in $2,300 alone.
RPAC works on the local, state and national levels to help elect candidates who understand and support real estate interests, including Fair Housing and access to homeownership.
“Our American Dream Party & Auction was an overwhelming success, supporting homeownership rights,” said Jeff Carson, KCRAR Director of Kansas Advocacy. “Special thanks to all of our attendees, online bidders, our generous sponsors and to all of our members who donated items, trips, baskets and more. A special thanks to our REALTOR® Party Advisory Chair and Vice Chairs Amanda Starcher and Joanna Eibes and their committee members for all of their hard work. And lastly, a word of thanks to the KCRAR and Heartland MLS staff, nearly all of whom participated in some way to making this auction the success it was, and we couldn’t have done it without this team effort. To all of you, we are grateful.”
