About our partner non-profits
Mimi’s Pantry was founded by Kansas City REALTOR® Dennis Curtin in 2019 with the mission to bridge the gap for individuals and families who are faced with the challenge of having enough nourishing food available to them.
Mimi’s Pantry is a state of the art pantry. It offers a full range of food items needed to provide a nourishing, balanced meal. The pantry is stocked with boxed and canned goods, along with a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, and frozen meats. One of the unique features of Mimi’s Pantry is the library of books available for our clients to take home.
Curtin has received multiple awards for his work founding Mimi’s Pantry, including the National Association of REALTORS® Good Neighbor Award in 2022.
Agape Pamoja is a non-profit organization that serves the multi-faceted needs of refugees from war-torn countries residing in Kansas City by providing housing assistance, educational support, food, clothing, life skills, community involvement, leadership development, and other aid.
Providing affordable housing for refugees in Kansas City is one of Agape Pamoja’s missions through their Blessing Houses. On average, families save $900 per month in rent and utilities, plus Blessing Houses are furnished with basic furnishings and basics for organization. Most Blessing Houses experience a renovation time before families move in, providing the opportunity for Americans and refugees to do home renovations together.
Kansas City REALTOR® Brent Gieseke has earned multiple awards for his dedicated service with Agape Pamoja, including the National Association of REALTORS® Good Neighbor Award in 2021.
Veterans Community Project (VCP) was co-founded by Kansas City REALTOR® Mark Solomon in 2018 alongside a group of fellow combat veterans with the goal of serving any person who took the oath for our country regardless of discharge status or type of service.
VCP’s solution to end veteran homelessness is simple: provide homes with dignity and personalized support services that promote homelessness recovery and an improved quality of life. Their Tiny Home Village in Kansas City includes 49 tiny homes, including 4 family homes. Each Veteran’s stay in VCP Village depends on their progress towards meeting their benchmarks as they work towards permanent housing. The program is designed around each individual Veteran and based on their unique needs and strengths. The VCP Outreach Center also serves walk-in veterans with needs such as food pantry boxes, assistance with VA benefits and more.
Since its foundation here in Kansas City, Solomon has received the National Good Neighbor Award, and VCP has expanded to five other cities across the country.
Habitat for Humanity of Kansas City has been a partner of KCRAR for many years. Their work to create and sustain affordable housing for Kansas Citians takes shape in many ways, including build projects, renovation projects, home buyer seminars and sales through their ReStore locations, which raise funds for their mission.
KCRAR and Habitat KC partner for REALTORS® Rock the Block each September, at which time hundreds of REALTORS® from across the region come together to work on a block of homes.
