What Small Businesses Need to Know About the New Pandemic Relief Bill (updated March 26, 2021)
As part of the pandemic relief package, Congress passed several changes to the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) and created a “Second Draw” PPP for small businesses who have exhausted their initial loan. Other changes impact eligibility for initial PPP loans, the loan forgiveness process, and the tax treatment of PPP loans.
Congress has also made changes to other programs – including Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL Program), the Employee Retention Tax Credit, a Venue Grant program, and SBA loan programs –that will benefit small businesses. (Source: US Chamber of Commerce)

Expanded Employee Retention Tax Credit
On Tuesday, February 17, 2021 President Biden extended the foreclosure moratorium and mortgage relief program until June 30, 2021. Over 10 million homeowners have struggled to pay their mortgage since the pandemic. These actions will allow borrowers to pause or reduce mortgage payments for an additional six months. In a statement, the White House said President Biden is committed to protecting homeownership and housing stability during the pandemic, calling the extended programs “an important step towards building stronger and more equitable communities.”
