KCRAR provides candidates a Questionnaire to allow the REALTOR® Political Action Committee (RPAC) Trustees an opportunity to become acquainted with the candidates and understand their position on issues. The candidate questionnaire is an important element of the KCRAR Kansas RPAC candidate recommendation process.

Kansas Home Inspections

With a few exceptions, since January 1, 2010 all individuals performing home inspections in Kansas have been required to be registered by the Kansas Home Inspector Registration Board (KHIRB).

REALTORS® providing a list of home inspectors should refer clients to the KHIRB web site (www.ksinspectors.org) for a list of registered home inspectors. For REALTORS® to be protected under the Brokerage Relationships in Real Estate Transactions Act (BRRETA), they can provide a list to clients of registered home inspectors so they are considered qualified third-party professionals. Clients can check www.ksinspectors.org for information.

Kansas Registered Inspectors are required to meet minimum educational requirements for entrance into the profession, must obtain a minimum of 16 hours of continuing education each year, maintain general liability insurance and maintain financial protection through various means for the client. As with any new regulatory process, bugs in the system will need to be worked out, but KHIRB is confident that the new regulation will provide Kansans better-trained professional inspectors and more contiguity in inspection reporting due to the creation of the Kansas Standards of Practice followed by all inspectors.
