Independence, Mo. Offers Resources for Working with Historic Homes

Nearly 1,500 of the homes in Independence, Mo. are over 100 years old, and many of these older homes may be subject to guidelines by the City of Independence. That’s why the city has developed resources for agents and consumers to understand historic neighborhoods in Independence and the guidelines in place when working with designated historic properties.

The Rediscovering Independence webpage offers agents, consumers and residents information about historic neighborhoods in Independence. It features an interactive map, from which users can gather information on the neighborhoods, such as parks, libraries and schools.

On the Designated Historic Resources webpage, agents can view registers to find out if the home they are working with is a locally designated historic property. A select amount of these properties have restrictions on renovation, which can be found on this page as well.
