At-Large Director Candidates

Aaron Crossley, BHG Kansas City Homes
Why do you wish to serve as a Director of the Kansas City Regional Association of REALTORS®?  Leading by example is the best and fastest way to make a positive impact on our community of Realtors. You need to dedicate time in becoming a part of the decision making process to have a deeper understanding of how our industry impacts the communities where we work. Becoming a Director would help achieve success in this area.

What do you see as the primary purpose of this Association?  To provide loyal and prudent oversight in support of our organization and put yourself about personal and professional interest to ensure our strategies and initiatives are for the greater good.

What goals and objectives would you like to see pursued by this Association over the next three years? I would like to see an increase in the overall professional standards of practice to ensure our Association remains one of the best in the country, in order to maintain the reputation we as Realtors have worked so hard to build.

Lin Van Meter, Re/Max Innovations
Why do you wish to serve as a Director of the Kansas City Regional Association of REALTORS®?  My involvement in KCRAR, WCR and Missouri Realtors have been such a growing experience that I feel all the time and energy investment has brought me to the next step, running for the Board of Directors. Being KCRAR’s 2013 delegate to Missouri Leadership Academy was pivotal in my personal growth as a leader in organized real estate as well as fine-tuning my own real estate career. My most recent service as KCRAR’s chair of Member Engagement has shown me the difference each person can make when they are meaningfully engaged in improving and promoting the mission of the largest local Realtor Association in the mid-west. I want to be on the front line of defending property rights and protecting our profession from crazy laws and undue expenses. I’ve built a strong network of industry champions who feel like I do, that if we work together, we make a profound difference in our market and in our profession.

What do you see as the primary purpose of this Association? I feel that KCRAR’s primary purpose is to provide education, services and products to make the boots-on-the-streets sales persons work activities more productive and safer. This, also, includes giving members cutting edge information that our clients can rely on and makes us the experts in real estate. Two of the most important of those services are 1) an affordable and easy-to use MLS that holds subscribers responsible for acting in an honest manner and creating broad distribution of our listing information and 2) managing a professional standards system that encourages all members to abide by the Golden Rule and ultimately to make our real estate industry above reproach amongst our members and to have the confidence of the general public.

What goals and objectives would you like to see pursued by this Association over the next three years? I would hope I could help KCRAR move in forward thinking ways to become an even larger presence in the Economic Development environment of our region, to attract and train dynamic leaders who will engage more members and become an even greater presence in our Region VIII and NAR. I personally think my election would enhance the cohesiveness of all Realtors North of the River to ALL metro members and to capitalize on more WCR members, as I and many others have, to become leaders they can be. I want to encourage all agents to respond to the Call to Action and give more support for RPAC fundraising.
